Icon warming up for the Big Walk!

Posted by , on April 6th, 2011

Below is a note from Martyn Maund of Icon who are sponsoring us this year.  Martyn and his team are doing a sponsored 30 mile walk in Snowdonia later in the year.  We are extremely grateful for all of Icon’s efforts and blisters on our behalf.

‘This is the bulk of the team training in the Lake District on Sun 5 Mar 2011. The main walk will be 30 miles in Snowdon on 17 June 2011.  As you look I am on the left  with the very smart polka dot hanky protecting my head from the sun!  We camped at Buttermere on the Saturday night then did a 5 hour training walk on the Sunday. This foto was taken high up on the ridge to the West of Lake Buttermere.  Very steep climb to get to the top then life improved as we ridgelined.  Talk about feeling my age!

We will be doing a longer training walk early May.   Where’s my personal trainer?’

Martyn has persuaded his friend Dean Copley to organise the walk and to train the team for which we are all very grateful.  Dean is pictured at the right hand side.

If you’d like to follow in Martyn and his team’s footsteps and do a sponsored activity for the Mustard Tree, please contact Lydia:
