Hannah Atkins Album Launch

Posted by , on January 30th, 2012

One of our Mustard Tree supporters; ’Hannah Atkins‘ is launching her new Album ‘Beyond Your Skin’ on the 15th February at Band On The Wall in Manchester. Hannah has been involved in the work of Mustard Tree since arriving in Manchester as a student in 2000 & helping on our soup run. Hannah now regularly sings for our events & is a part of The Sanctuary event held at The Mustard Tree each month.

At her album launch, Hannah will be performing her album material with a full band including a string quartet with extra guest musicians such as Judith Ude on a harp! If you can only make one of her gigs this year – make it THIS ONE! The event is being run in partnership with a few social justice charities including Mustard Tree, and the show will feature real stories of the people behind the song lyrics – including that of our very own Graham Hudson! Tickets are £7 in advance or £8 on the door, available from www.hannahatkins.com and Band On The Wall box office.

Go Hungry

Posted by , on January 24th, 2012
We have had the pleasure of working with Adrian Bentley of Just Good Ideas and three students from Salford University and together have come up with the Go Hungry Campaign.  We are going to give it a go next week and hopefully make it a regular feature of our yearly calendar.  While the aim is to raise much needed funds for the work of the Mustard Tree we also want to distribute some of the funds raised to some of the other excellent homeless charities across Greater Manchester.  The idea is explained below:

Go Hungry is asking people to skip lunch for one day during the Poverty & Homelessness Action Week (28th January – 5th February), and simply donate the money they otherwise would have spent. We aim to engage people to consider their own lives and actions in contrast to the day to day lifestyle of the disadvantaged population, who usually do not have the option of deciding whether to eat or not.

Eccles Launch Invitation

Posted by , on January 17th, 2012

You may have gathered that we are about to open a small site in Eccles.  The aim of the new site is to serve those of our clients in the west of Greater Manchester who struggle to access Ancoats regularly and to work alongside the many excellent existing agencies in the area.  We are having a small launch event next Monday at 11am.  Anyone is welcome to attend, we will be joined by the Mayor of Salford and should have a merry time.

The official invitation with full details is available if you click here.

We’d love to see you.

Thanks
